Avelina looked at Gregor and then to Nicolette, "Shall we find ourselves a place to get some sleep for the night? Also, I would like to find out more as to why you are not comfortable with the open water?"
"We can sleep wherever," Nicolette answered simply. "I'm comfortable in nature." She purposely avoided anything having to do with her fears, purposely changing the conversation to something else. "I don't think I've seen you much. You're not an officer, right? Bartender, perhaps?"
"I am not of Star Fleet and yes, a bartender plus a handy woman, as in being able to make things the old-fashioned way. " Avelina responded with a smile.
Gregor stepped forward into the conversation after scanning the area visually and taking mental stock of items around them. " Yes, she is a great bartender and makes some of the best beverages around, synthahol or otherwise. But more importantly she is the love of my life and my wife, " He said with a smile.
Gregor continued. "It is getting dark out and we'll need to find a place soon to bed down for the night. I observed that there are a number of saddle blankets here in the barn, I would say for the temperature it is late spring or early summer in England. It might get a bit on the cool side, So I would suggest that we barrow some saddle blankets and place one under us and one over and cover with hay if it gets too cold. There is a good supply of clean hay up in the loft that we could use," he suggested.
"Don't let me be a third wheel," Nicolette informed both of them. "I could just throw some hay down and sleep in the loft if that's quite alright with you."
Gregor chuckled lightly. " I don't think you have to worry about being the third wheel. " He said with a smile. " My first and foremost concern is group protection and survival. Besides the hay loft is large and goes about three quarters the way around the barn, that and the saddle blankets will keep the excess hay off your clothing. That and we're going to need to find information to either to find our way back to the ship or survive here depending on how long we're here. and if we're here for an extended amount of time, we may have to figure out how to get ahold of the local currency as well. "
"That will be the problem in the morning for us to figure that out. "Avelina mentioned. "And seriously, Nicolette, better to be close for safety reasons. And we're just camping out overnight in a barn." She smiled. "You can sleep near me on one side and Gregor can be on the other."
Nicolette was not prudish. She might identify more with her British upbringing than her French heritage but that did not mean she was concerned about sleeping near others. She merely thought that the married couple would prefer their privacy. She shrugged and simply responded, "I'm not really certain who would want me. After all, people just see me as a boy here."
"Well don't worry about here, but it seems that whatever, however this situation we are all in, it seems that they see you as a boy. I have no idea what they see me as, unless it is a boy as well. I've not tested that theory at all." reaching out with a comforting hand to Nicolette. "I see you as a girl, and so does Gregor. And maybe it is a good thing they don't view you as a girl right now and there are men who would find you attractive."
"I would hope so," Nicolette responded without thinking. However, after a moment she said, "Ah. I see what you mean. Women had few rights in this era and you are concerned that I might be harmed." Her voice softened. "I appreciate that. As a boy, though, I am pushed around or invisible."
"Which is a good thing maybe? Right now though let's get some sleep before we truly get into the thick of things."
"Yes, sleep would be wise," Nicolette answered, knowing that sleep was necessary regardless of time. Psychologically, one needed at least seven hours to be at their best. However, Nicolette was pretty certain that she did not want to get into the thick of anything with the Victory. "I'm sorry that I'm not particularly talkative tonight," she apologized to Gregor and Avelina.
"It is okay, we're thrust into a time and a place that we are not familiar with as we are in the past. Best for us to get some shut eye and see what happens Tomorrow." Avelina replied.
Nicolette agreed. "Tomorrow it is." She started making arrangements to sleep.
Gregor came back from making his rounds, gave a small smile towards Nicolette, "Everything is safe and sound and I'll sit here and keep watch."
Avelina prepared a place to sleep as well then said, "Good night Nicolette, sweet dreams."
