Mission:
In Between
Location: Medical
Timeline: After Evie talks to Ans
Jade had been haunting the corridor outside of medical, She didn't want to get in the way of those Doctor Ki was attending to, Especially Ans. After a little bit of time, noting that Evie wasn't there, Jade slipped inside to see how Ans was, for her own ease of mind. She had heard whispers of his heart stopping, but then being brought back.
Quietly whispering not knowing if he were awake or asleep, "Oh Ans, I am glad you are alive. I don't know what I would have done if.. If.." she rubbed her eyes to ease them from the sting of tears trying not to sniffle.
Ans blinked at her. He realized it was an emotional situation for all but still . . . two women crying within minutes of each other. "I'll be perfectly fine Commander. You would have no doubt led the ship back home. Your record is exemplary. " He did not offer Jade a hug as it seemed a bit too close after embracing Evie and the last thing he needed was for her to walk in here and see that.
Her sniffles dried up quickly, Jade giving a nod, "Indeed I would have done so." reaching out to give his hand a slight squeeze then letting it go.
" However we got back to the ship thanks to Lieutenant Vulpes reaching the USS Victory and we were transported to safey." a calm expression settled upon her. " I will be honest Ans, seeing you shot wasn't a pleasant experience, I do hope that doesn't happen again. I am of the mindset of a set of protective clothing for you to wear, if or when you do go on another away mission. Or even a personal forcefield to prevent that from happening again."
Ans chuckled in spite of himself. "I will try not to let it happen again. I certainly didn't ask for it. I'm hoping that this is the end of our alien encounters for the time being and we can focus on getting home. But I still don't understand what the alien wanted us to do. I don't believe we changed anything, except me getting shot. We should check the history data banks and see if any of our information has changed. Perhaps Admiral Nelson survived the battle? Could you look into that Commander?"
"I certainly will do so, Ans, sir.." breathing in for a moment he had called her by her rank, then again. Ans had given her a request as per her status as his XO. "If there weas a chance to speak to this Alien we had encountered, I would like to ask him a question as to what he wanted from us. And if he wanted us to change what happened to his people, how is he still around if his people were gone? Is he truly the last of his kind?"
"I have a feeling he's going to be making more appearances. This can't be our only test and if it is then he'll no doubt tell us if we won or lost. I guess in the meantime we must focus on getting this ship back to 2365 if that's even possible."
Jade was quiet for a moment as she pondered his words, "I do hope we can get back, and find a way to do so. Try to sling shot around a sun to maybe get us back to our time if at all possible." giving a some what helpless shrug. "When he comes back and I believe that as you had said, he will. I also hope we can find out just why we've beeing played around with like we're just toys for someone's enjoyment."
Ans nodded. Suddenly he felt rather tired again and he pulled the covers back over him on the biobed. "We'll find out." he replied. "How's the crew holding up since our adventure?"
"They are trying to cope with what has happened. It is a lot to take in with being flung through time and almost losing their captain. I feel that they will be able to come to terms with what is happening. It will be taking a bit of adjustments and speaking to each other as well as the counselor. Its not going to be an instantaneous adjustment either. I feel confident though that they will pull through." Jade replied, with an expression of confidence.
He nodded. Honestly he was still coming to terms with being shot. And he needed to recuperate pretty quickly as he'd made a date with Evie tonight. "That's good. How are the repairs coming to the ship?" Ans didn't actually know how long they'd been on the planet, whether the time on the ship was the same. His brain was tired and he was trying not to show it.
"That will be my next stop to check on both operations as well as Engineering, to personally get an update and to check in on them." Jade said with assurance. "I will make certain that you will get the full report once I am finished." the XO was wholly stepping into her role.
"Thanks," Ans said with a small smile. He suddenly felt awkward. He was tired and he didn't want to tell her that he had a date with Evie after he was being released from Sickbay. His cheeks flushed at just the thought of anyone else finding out. "Was there anything else? I was thinking of taking a nap honestly. Being shot really takes a lot out of you."
"A nap seems to be the order of the day." Jade giving a soft smile. "I will see you later on, Ans. Enjoy your rest, I'll see to what is needed ship wise. " placing her hand upon his shoulder, a gentle squeeze then Jade turned to leave. A glance over her shoulder she smiled once more, before she left the area of sickbay where Ans was resting. There were others she needed to go check on.
