Mission:
Into The Past-USS Seward
Location: Ready Room
Luna had taken her time to set up her quarters before reporting in to Captain Jane Saulitis. The weapons that she used to train, were displayed upon the wall, a variety of blades, which included, a rapier much the style of sword that Inigo Montoya had used in 'The Princess Bride' a rapier. There were some small pictures from the movie upon the wall, one was Inigo facing off with the Dread Pirate Roberts, then there was the one with Inigo facing off with Count Rugen. Much like the rapier that was in the movie, the rapier she had was hand crafted by her Granfather Inigo Montoya.
A fond smile appeared as Luna brushed her fingertips along the hilt then she left to go meet with Captain Saulitis. Arriving at the Ready Room, Luna pressed the chime to announce that someone was there, giving herself another once over to make certain she looked presentable.
"Come," Jane called. It felt like the 400th time she'd said that in the last day. But it was traditional for the senior staff to check in with and meet the Captain before the start of their first mission together. And since this was the start of the first mission together for every member of the senior staff for the USS Seward, it meant a lot of drop bye meet and greets.
Jane walked toward the replicator and stood there, waiting to see if the new arrival wanted coffee, tea or anything else to drink. It seemed only hospitable.
"Peppermint tea please, if you don't mind Captain Saulitis.." Luna requested, She stood, waiting for the captain to have a seat before she sat down. While she waited, Luna took a glance around the ready room, noting personal effects if there were any as some captains tended to make the ready room a place of their own.
The woman was straightforward. Jane liked that. Sometimes it was tiring, all this small talk. "Welcome to the Seward Lieutenant." She said as she ordered the tea and put it in the hands of her new Chief of Security. She waited until the young woman had taken a sip of the tea before she smiled slightly mischievously and started. "The last Chief of Security I had slept with my mother. I assume we won't have that problem here."
Eyes went wide and Luna breathed in the tea, going into a coughing fit. She barely kept from spewing tea on the Captain, spilling her tea down her tunic. The coughing fit passed she croaked out, "Ma'am, I do not intend on sleeping with your mother. Is your mother here on the ship? If so, I shall endeavor to keep my distance from her, unless I am otherwise told to keep her safe. Nothing more." pulling out a handkerchief from her uniform pants pockets to dab at the tea from the front of her tunic.
"No," Jane said holding back a laugh and looked around for something for the Lieutenant to use to dab the tea but saw that she found something. "My mother is safely not on the ship. I apologize Lieutenant It's been a rough day and I apparently couldn't resist inserting my foot into my mouth with albeit hilarious results. Have a seat when you get yourself cleaned off. Don't worry about the uniform. I know the Captain and you have a good excuse for the mess."
Noting the held back laughter being revealed in the Captain's eyes, Luna grinned, giving a chuckle. "Captain, if you want to laugh go ahead." Giving a chuckle as she imagined the expression on her face. She finished off dabbing the moisture then took a seat. "I am glad that you know the captain." giving a wink towards Jane. "I am also sorry you've had a trying day."
"Oh it will get better. We're about to launch a brand new ship with a new crew and a new Captain on a new mission. What could be better or more exciting than that?" Jane smiled. "So, Lieutenant. Tell me a little about yourself."
"I could ask you, what would you like to know." Luna giving a light laugh, "However, I won't be so mean as to do that. I do enjoy being in security as that has been a part of my whole family lineage in various forms. Bodyguards, law enforcement. Huntsmen and detectives. But that isn't all that we're into, we've got other interests. Personally, I do love to read, delving into a variety of book genres. History, romance, fanstacy. And also non fiction. I have other varied interests, and skills, fighting skills."
Jane smiled. "Where are you from? I could of course look at your file but then I'd have to go through one of these meetings and already know everything about you and what's the fun in that?"
"I am of the same mindset where that is concerned. Sure there is a lot that can be found on someome's record but, is it truly fair to judge a person by former actions? I have a friend who had gotten into a little bit of trouble, They were a bit on the rough side, but that didn't mean they weren't a good person at heart. Things were rectified, they took their lumps but continued on in their life, They learned a life lesson and also got a second chance. They were lucky to find someone who looked beyond what happened and saw quality in them. After being bounced around a couple of times."
Luna paused, then answered the other question. "As for me where I am from, I am from Aragon, Spain. Its an autonomous country which is part of a medieval society. Its an pretty interesting place. My family has land where we fish, hunt and even go mountain climbing."
"Oh. Were you raised in the traditional sense. That is . . . not using modern technology?" Jane asked curiously. She'd heard of such people and indeed her own upbringing with her mother had been similar though not completely without technology thanks to her father's influence.
"There is some technology, the place isn't dependant on StarFleet technology. Replicators are not commonly used, as most everyone there prefers the more hands on experience. We have machines that do our laundry and we utilize dryers when it is too wet outside. Dishes are done by hand, floors swept." Luna paused then chuckled,
"Its most definitely a combination, leaning more towards traditional. There was a general consensus that we have some technology that will help, but didn't want to go fully, due to the population wanting to have a more simpler life."
"I'm sure that gave you quite the good work ethic. My mother was the same way and I fought it tooth and nail but the older I get the more I understand. By the time I'm retired I have no doubt that I'll want the same." Jane wondered about her son and which path he might take, would he be more like her as a young woman and want every advantage that technology gave? "I don't see any reason to keep you any longer unless there was something specific you wanted to discuss? Your record speaks for itself."
Luna thought about Jane's question. "Actually I would like to get to know more about you, the ship or ships you have served on, Whether you are a captain who joins the crew on away missions. There is a lot I could ask, but it depends on how long you want to stay in your ready room or have some tea in a more relaxing atmosphere minus your mother." Luna deciding to throw that out there, after making certain the Captain wasn't drinking any tea, an impish smile showing. Her eyes went serious , "However I think that we could do that at a later time, once we head on our first leg of the journey, where ever that maybe."
